This course focuses on the elements required for music-related business. It encompasses an overview of the music industry, the use of technology for small business, marketing and recording, management and administration.
AIMS OF THE COURSE
This exciting course outlines the scope of the music industry and the many jobs associated with music making. It focuses on new ways of marketing, promoting, recording and distributing music using information technology as well as the traditional format of the recording and publishing industries. Artist management, copyright, royalty payments, business administration, independent release and industry relevant topics will all be covered, as well as focusing on event management and web design. The course is both theoretical and practical with a focus on the hands-on marketing and promotion of live productions.
Entrance Requirements: by interview.

MUSIC BUSINESS COURSE
The course will entail both practical and theoretical work and will be delivered as units of competency towards a Certificate IV in Music (Business. It will run over 16 weeks with approximately 9 hours face-to-face teaching over 2 days per week. Some time will be allocated for attending gigs and music related events to develop a working knowledge of the industry.
85% attendance record is recommended in order to fulfil assessment requirements for the units covered in the course.
This course is funded and is provided free of charge.
An administration fee of $209.00 applies.
You may be eligible for an exemption from paying the fee if: you are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; or you are a client of a eacher/Consultant for Students with Disabilities; or you are currently receiving a Commonwealth benefit or allowance.
