The Conservatorium
Community Studies program provides one on one sessions and group tuition for
a wide range of instruments and other disciplines. Classes are available
in Music, Drama and Dance for all ages and at all levels. Adult beginners are very welcome. The Conservatorium
provides opportunities for performance for all its students throughout
the year.
Our Early Childhood
Music program and continuing Childhood Music Education program introduces
young children to musical sounds and concepts in a fun and relaxed environment. Instruments taught are piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, drum kit and the voice.
There are ensemble
programs available for music students and players of all ages and levels. Our
community ensembles include styles such as: World Music, Improvisation,
Big Band, String, Guitar and Vocals.

Ensembles
* String Ensemble Thursdays at 4:15 for one hour
The string ensemble is for players of all ages and standards. Wendy Turner conducts the ensemble and writes parts suitable for players so that they are able to play at their own level. We have violins, violas, cellos and would like double bass players. The string ensemble plays at various venues throughout the year.
* Wind Ensemble with Julius Hofstetter: Tuesdays at 6:30.
Music to suit the players. Any age or standard.
* Guitar ensembles with Jaime Timms.
Junior and more advanced ensembles. Please phone for dates and times.
Choirs
The adult choir is on Wednesdays at 5:30pm under the direction of Felicity Clifton (2 hrs).
The children's choir is on Fridays at 5 pm (1 hr).
The choirs perform at various venues throughout the year.
Drama
There are three groups for young people's drama.
Chloe Allan is the teacher and they perform plays and do other drama activities. We have:
- MONDAY 4 - 5:30pm: Act Up with children aged between 6 - 9yrs.
- MONDAY 5:30 - 7pm: Teenage Drama for young people aged 15 - 18yrs.
- THURSDAY 5:30- 7pm: Youth Theatre group aged 10 - 15yrs.
Dance
For all dance classes except the Flamenco contact Michael Hennessy at the Conservatorium on 6621 2266
- Tuesdays 4:15 - 5:15 pm Hip Hop for young teens with Cristy Kilkeary
- Wednesdays 6:30 - 7:30pm Adult Contemporary Dance
Theory: Saturday morning activities are held once a term.
This term the emphasis is on reading and performing rhythms. Games and other activites for students who are studying any instrument - different abilities catered for. Please phone for the date for this term.
