AIMS OF THE COURSE

This course is aimed specifically at teaching post production and video editing skills using digital technology (Final Cut Pro).  Our broad aim however, is to provide a well rounded experience of both the artistic and practical aspects of short film making.

Throughout this project students will gain insight into film making processes from pre to post production.
Students will learn to use a camera, record sound and work with actors and directors.  At the post production stage students will learn to edit footage to best achieve the vision of the director, and will also learn to synchronize sound with film.

The course will entail both practical and theoretical work and will be delivered as units of competency towards a Certificate IV in Screen.  It will run for 16 weeks with  approximately 12.5  hours face-to-face teaching over  2-3 days per week. Some time will be allocated for shooting the film. 85% attendance record is recommended in order to fulfil assessment requirements for the units covered in the course.

Austudy recipients have attendance requirements as fulltime students.  The Austudy handbook provides details.
